‘Human-Re-Sources’ Is The Latest Independent Distribution Company Changing The Rules
Human-Re-Sources is an independent, hybrid distribution company founded by J. Erving, and is breaking ground as one of Spotify’s first direct deals. J, for a majority of his career was partners with Troy Carter, who formerly served over at Spotify as head of Global Creator Services. He was also a partner at Atom Factory with Troy Carter. Upon Human Re Sources’ inception, J Erving brought Troy Carter Jr. on board as General Manager, overseeing all their releases.
We had the chance to catch up with Troy Carter Jr. to speak about his role and the success Human-Re-Sources has seen since it’s development. Check out below.
“Spotify paid a fair advance that helped us establish this company. This deal allows me to pitch songs directly to Spotify’s internal teams — a rare advantage in the industry right now. Though Spotify does not guarantee us placements, it is nice to know our music is really being considered
for playlist placement.”
“Since joining Human Re Sources a year ago, I’ve had success with acts like YBN Nahmir (whose “Rubbin’ Off the Paint,” & “Bounce Out With That” are now combined at over 250m Spotify streams, and Nahmir has grown to 4.9M monthly listeners), Brent Fayaiz (who’s now released two projects with Human Re Soureces made noise with full-length Sonder Son, and recently released ‘Lost”) Teen pop artist Charlotte Lawrence (60m Spotify streams and a handful of high-profile syncs, and was named one of Vevo’s “2019 Artists To Watch”.”
“We’re also very excited about the development of Pink Sweats. The Philadelphia singer released his first project via Human Re Sources, in July of 2018. He’s gone to gain over 10 million streams across his catalog, more than 1.5m monthly listeners, and has also been featured in premiere playlists like, “Fresh Finds”, “New Music Friday”, “The Newness” and many more.”
“It’s also been dope seeing the growth of Peter Manos. His very first single “In My Head” is currently above 25 million Spotify streams. The song has been on fire since premiering in key playlists like “New Music Friday” and “Teen Party”.”
He ended saying;
We also worked with the Atlantic records team to break Bri Steve’s single “Jealousy”, prior to her up-streaming to Atlantic Records. Jealousy also cracked the top 25 songs at Urban Radio. —- YBN Cordae has also recently surpassed 30m Spotify streams on his breakout single, “Kung Fu”. The
record got a major boost when it was placed in Spotify’s Rap Caviar and Most Necessary playlists.”
To up-coming artists, managers and publicists, Human-Re-Sources should be a company you look in-to to help, and will definitely be a name you will see often in the future behind some of the biggest names in the game.
